Natural Hoof Care Clinic
This training is for anyone wishing to learn to recognise unhealthy
hooves and how the natural trim is applied
• Learn to recognise excess hoof horn that can cause hoof distortion
and lameness
• Learn the importance of heel first landing and health of the
frog and digital cushion
• Learn how horses with navicular, founder, pedal osteitis and
a host of domestic lameness issues can be helped through natural horse/hoof
care
• Learn the essential guidelines for the rehabilitation period
when horses go from shoes to barefoot
• Learn about the impact un-natural diet and living conditions
can have on the hoof and the horse’s health
• Learn what tools and equipment you will need, their use, their
care and where to buy them

Discussion and Questions |
Trimmers with some experience will gain enough knowledge to change their
trim style if necessary. Beginners will have time to absorb the information,
buy the tools that they need and when they feel confident to learn how
to trim their own horses I will return at a later date for one on one
trim training session.
One-On-One Trim Session (Half or Full Day)
Recommended for people wishing to trim their own horses only. Anyone
wishing to learn to trim other people’s horses are encouraged
to join a recognized certification program such as the Equine Sciences Academy or CAHET.
• Summary of the Whys and the Hows of Natural Hoof Care
• Learn the basics of:
• Natural Toe Angle
• Excess wall removal
• Recognizing and the removal of flare
• Proper balancing of heels
• Correct method of cleaning up frogs, soles, bars
• Proper application of the mustang roll
• Treatment of thrush, chips and cracks
• Q&A Period
* More advanced training is available to people who are already in the hoof care business, please inquire.
