The following is a comparison of the natural hoof development of a wild horse vs. the hoof development of a domesticated horse with and without a natural trim

Hoof Dev. of Wild vs. Domesticated With and Without a Natural Trim

Wild Horse
No Trim

Domesticated Horse
Without Natural Trim

Domesticated Horse
With Natural Trim

Wild hoof is perfectly trimmed naturally! Domesticated hoof, heels and toes are too long! Domesticated hoof, coming back into the natural shape with correct trim!

Domesticated
Foundered Hoof

See the healthy tight connection of the coffin bone with the frontal hoof wall? Also notice how low the heels are. Here the wall is flared away 2/3rds the way down from the coronet and the white line is stretched out. Heels are too high. The hoof wall is completely separated from the coffin bone and the bone has descended down and penetrated the sole.

Wild Horse

Domesticated Horse with Natural Trim
Compare the Hoof of the wild horse (left) and the hoof of the domesticated horse with a Natural Trim (Right): What are the similarities and differences? The hairline in both hooves is very similar, the heel height is similar and the wall is rolled in both instances. The only exception here is that the hoof on the right appears to have a slightly longer toe, but the hoof on the right could be from a larger horse than that of the horse on the left.
